While Hannah went to visit her former language students, I emerged from Ueno station with a one day Tokyo Metro ticket and a list of Tokyo shopping districts I wanted to visit. Ueono Park is a massive green space in the middle of Tokyo. It contains several museums and galleries, a temple, a zoo and a large wetland area. Swimming around the reed beds were lots of different species of handsome northern hemisphere duck. I also saw lots of sausage dogs going for their morning walks, each one kitted out in a doggy jumper. It was too early for the galleries so I wandered around for a while before setting off on my shopping mission.
